Impressions from Day 2 of the Global Progressive Mobilisation

Barcelona, 18 April 2026

The second day of the Global Progressive Mobilisation focused on leadership, alliances, and the political direction needed in a rapidly shifting global order.

The day opened with the Women Leaders Breakfast, co-organized with PES Women, bringing together women party leaders and deputy leaders from Europe and the Global South. The exchange underscored the central role of feminist leadership in strengthening democratic resilience and shaping progressive responses to today’s challenges.

At 10:00, members of the Progressive Alliance Presidium convened for Progressive Approaches for a New World Order, co-organized with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. The discussion addressed the growing contest over global order, not only as a geopolitical struggle, but as a defining moment for democracy, multilateralism, and social justice. Leaders reflected on how progressive forces can articulate a shared vision and build the alliances needed to advance it.

The closing plenary brought the two-day mobilisation to a political conclusion, translating shared analysis into a common direction: deeper cooperation, stronger coordination, and sustained collective action across regions.

From Barcelona, the Progressive Alliance moves forward with a renewed commitment to act together across continents, generations, and movements in defence of democracy, equality, and a just global order.
