Yesterday the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ordered his member Turkey to immediately release HDP leader Selahattin Demirtas in prison since November 2016, ridicously accused of so-called terror-related charges. The court considers that his human rights had been violated and the pluralism of opinion in Turkey undermined. ECHR stated that Turkey had interfered with the freedom of expression of Selhattin by lifting his parliamentary immunity and violated his right to be elected for parliament. And today the journalist Can Dündar was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison in Istanbul on the pretext of supporting terrorism and espionage based on a research he published already in 2015 on the delivery of Turkish arms to Syria.
