Panel Discussion on “Transcending Populism – A Progressive Narrative for Justice and Humanity”
We are living in a world of worldwide upheavals and increasing global challenges. What was taken for granted over centuries, suddenly gets under pressure and is openly put into question by right-wing populists. This includes basic democratic principles such as openness, cooperation, dialogue, balance and diversity. We see trends of isolation and nationalism, as well as attacks on the rule of law, freedom of speech and minorities. Solidarity, freedom and democracy are at stake.
Progressives and socialists of all continents are facing the very same issues. As an international political movement we must stand together, develop a common narrative of justice and humanity and work on common strategies to counter populism. This panel discussion offers a platform for this urgently needed exchange.
