Board Meeting and Conference of the Progressive Alliance in the Americas

We cordially invite you to the upcoming regional conference of the Progressive Alliance of the Americas on 18-20 September 2025 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

With this year’s theme, “For Democracy and Internationalism,” we bring together politicians and representatives from our sister parties and associate members to examine the regional and international landscape and share lessons and strategies in the face of growing transnational far-right threats.

Across the globe, democracy and multilateralism are being tested by the coordinated rise of far-right political forces and their fueling of economic uncertainties and societal fragmentation. These dynamics are exacerbating the challenges for those committed to democratic values, inclusive societies, and an international rules-based order. In this context, progressive movements have a vital responsibility: to close ranks and foster solidarity across borders in the defense of democracy and multilateralism that serve billions of people.

We will be gathering in Argentina, which since the election of Javier Milei is becoming a focal point of far-right politics in the region.

In conjunction with the regional conference, we are also taking this opportunity to hold the meeting of think tanks from the Americas and the meeting of the Board of the Progressive Alliance to collectively chart our ways forward. Arrivals are foreseen on 18 September 2025 before the meetings, and departures on 20 September 2025.
