SD Platform’s stance on the Russian massive missile strikes of 10th October

Russia attacked Ukraine with 83 missiles and 17 kamikaze drones across entire Ukraine today. 45 missiles were intercepted, and 9 Iran-supplied kamikaze drones were destroyed by Air Defense Forces.

Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Kropyvnytskyi, Kremenchuk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipro were hit by shelling. According to preliminary data, 11 people died and 64 were injured.

Also, this attack was targeted at civilian infrastructure. Thus, lots of cities were left without energy, water, and connection. Moreover, due to this fact, Ukraine decided to terminate the export of energy to Europe, in order to help our citizens. This is also Putin’s target. He tries to destroy our capacity to export energy, necessary for the citizens of the EU member states.

Faced with military defeat, the Kremlin uses every tool to intimidate Ukrainians and the entire civilized world. The Russians are not waging this war on the battlefield, they are waging war against innocent, vulnerable civilians.

As an organization that promotes the principles of social democracy in Ukraine, we appeal to our partners with a request to maintain solidarity with Ukrainian citizens in confronting Putin’s Russia. It’s high time to take practical steps to support our country in providing the necessary weapons, including financial and humanitarian assistance. It is important to communicate with EU citizens to make it clear to everyone that Russia is to blame for the emerging crises in Europe.

We emphasize that the most vulnerable categories of Ukrainian society are most affected by unprovoked, brutal war. And we must help, first of all, women, children, temporarily displaced people who are left without a roof over their heads and the opportunity to feed their families.

Your support is crucial to us right now!
