The recent United States election is of great concern to many across the world. The return of Donald Trump to the highest political office in the US, the House and Senate results, and the announcement of Trump’s appointments and nominations have a huge impact on domestic politics and the international order. This rise of Trump and MAGA also parallels similar reactionary populist movements across the world. We have already established that the fight for consequential issues—democracy, the economy, climate, gender, and peace—is globally interconnected, thus an examination of the developments in the U.S. is critical to chart our coordinated responses.
We invite fellow progressives from different continents to a closed online discussion to share a common understanding of the global ramifications of the US elections on multilateral and transnational issues. What lessons do we draw from the results that evidently affect our global work?
